Reflective Practice Resources

This resource page serves as GCU’s repository for research, tools, and innovation in reflective practice. Drawing on the Boyer Model of Scholarship and John Dewey’s framework of reflective inquiry, the center supports faculty, students, and professionals in cultivating reflection as a method of problem-solving, a mode of scholarship, and a driver of innovation.

Initiatives

  • Impact Dissertation Initiative – Hosted by the College of Doctoral Studies, this program equips doctoral candidates to design practice-focused dissertations that tackle pressing problems of practice and generate actionable solutions for their fields.
  • Canyon Emerging Scholars Program – This initiative mentors undergraduate researchers in applying empirical and reflective methods to solve practical problems.
  • Canyon Journal of Undergraduate Research – A peer-reviewed platform that highlights the research of GCU undergraduates, offering students valuable experience in scholarly publication and contributing to the broader academic community.

Through these initiatives, the Center for Reflective Practice advances GCU’s mission by fostering experiential learning and reflective scholarship that equip students and faculty to create meaningful impact in their fields.
